A weaver’s tartan, in older colours. This Scottish-woven throw carries the Wilson Ancient sett — rust red, moss green and slate blue, softened with cream lines — the family pattern said to have been made around 1780 by William Wilson of Bannockburn for his son’s marriage to Janet, and later adopted as the Wilson tartan.
“Ancient” here means the gentler palette: less black, more earth, the look of vegetable dyes rather than the sharper modern version. The cloth is a soft, durable wool blend, warm enough for a cold evening and heavy enough to sit properly on a sofa or chair.
Woven in Scotland for everyday use, it suits a Wilson household, a gift with a story, or anyone who wants tartan that feels a little older and a little quieter. Bannockburn is where much of modern tartan was first woven at scale. This throw keeps that thread.
